The Poppy Appeal 2014

Hi guys

Remembrance Day is not to far off now and again sadly there are more names added to the list of those who have lost their lives in war zones in service to their country.

I’m sure I don’t need to ask you but with this years Poppy Appeal now started please help support the Royal British Legion support serving members of the Armed Forces, ex-Service men and women (veterans), their families and dependants all year-round.

In the year that marks the centenary of the start of one of the costliest conflicts in our history, The Royal British Legion is encouraging everyone to support the Poppy Appeal for the memory of the fallen and the future of the living.

The Legion created the Poppy Appeal to help those returning from the First World War. A century on from the start of that conflict, we’re still helping today’s Armed Forces families in much the same way, whether coping with bereavement, living with disability, or finding employment.

The poppy is a powerful symbol. It is worn to commemorate the sacrifices of our Armed Forces and to show support to those still serving today and their loved ones.

Money raised through the Poppy Appeal goes directly to our welfare work providing through life care to anyone who is currently serving in the British Armed Forces, who has previously served, and their families.

When you donate to the Poppy Appeal you help:

  • bereaved families to Live On
  • wounded Service men and women to Live On
  • younger veterans seeking employment and housing to Live On
  • older veterans needing age-related care to Live On

Our vital welfare work is entirely dependent on the public’s generous support – so please give generously and wear your poppy with pride, knowing that you are helping the Armed Forces community to Live On.

Live On – to the memory of the fallen and the future of the living.

The 2014 Poppy Appeal has a target of £40 million, so lets help them out!

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2013

The Appeal is the Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign and runs year-round. Lapel poppies are available to buy in shops, supermarkets, pubs, clubs and downstairs at the bar of the club.

It takes 350,000 volunteers and staff to organise the Poppy Appeal each year. Money raised goes to support our welfare work for the Armed Forces community.

More than 40 million Remembrance poppies, 500,000 poppies of other types, 5 million Remembrance petals, 100,000 wreaths and sprays, 750,000 Remembrance Crosses and other Remembrance items are made at the Poppy Factory each year.

The 2012 Poppy Appeal raised an amazing £35 million. The target for the 2013 Appeal (October 2013 to September 2014) is £37 million. If you would like to donate at any time please click here.
