I'm thinking about getting back into 40k and am considering Daemons.

Are they difficult to use ? I'm also considering going Mono-god so probably either Khorne or Tzeentch. Does that make it even harder to use ?

Mono Tzeentch armies are one of the reasons I'm stepping away from 40k for a while, if that vouches for how good they are.

Does no one play balanced armies for fun anymore?

they are one of the new codexes so people are still trying to figure out how to beat them consistently. There pretty good

Warhammer FB:- Dwarfs, Goblins

Blood bowl:- Human, Orcs, Goblins, Dark elves, Skaven, Chaos, Necromancer Undead

Necromunda:- Orlocks

Epic:- Space marines, Titan Legion

Daemons are an interesting army imo, a huge number of rules doing a load of really funky stuff, I like the book a lot, but some of the combos are just untouchable;

Tzeentch daemons for example reroll all saves of 1, so when you can give them a 2+ invul, they are essentially impossible to kill. Screamers with a 2+ cover save rerolling 1s is horrible too.

On top of that they get to essentially tailor their list whatever they play since you roll boons/powers at the start of the game; just means you can swap out anything that isn't useful against your current opponent and pick the ap of the weapons you'll be using and such.

I don't know exactly what tourney lists are; I'm a little interested tbh because I personally think daemons are a bit temperamental to be really competitive; single dice rolls can determine whether you win or lose... (namely the grimoire of true names)

Going mono seems to be one of the things people are doing a lot. Tony was saying on a previous post that he used mono khorne and it was extremely successful.

Most of all, go with what you like and you think is cool. I'm starting a small Tzeentch daemons army as allies for my CSMs.

Commander of the World Breakers Legion - A Black Legion splinter force, lead my the monstrous terminator lord Rul'tuk, notorious for raiding and burning imperial agriworlds and converting entire battalions of imperial guard to their dark cause. Their armour is stained with the ashes of a dozen of agriworlds, set ablaze as burnt offerings to their dark gods. The telltale sign of this legions presence is a trail of thick grey smoke and frenzied worshipers wearing ragged leather and re-breathers strewn across a battlefield. Prepare to burn, weaklings.

Although I was successful, I did not have to face any of the big three lists.

Much as I hate to say it, the Screamer star has broken 40k for the forseeable future. Combined with Fateweaver it turns the game into a farce.

ooops

Damn it Tony..

I was saying that our club isn't _that_ competitive and that you should just play what you think is cool... but mono is a good way to start!

That is true, so far as complicated goes I think they have probably got #1 spot; large number of psychic powers and rolls before each phase, which normally leads to more rolls xD

Wanna test them out? I don't mind putting a tzeentch/khorne list together for you to play with and I can walk you through the different stuff...

Sorry Nathan, I accidently edited your comment X(

I only express what I'm thinking of the game right now, 6th is still the best edition rules wise and the Daemon book is excellent.
